Take time to deepen your spiritual life
in this special retreat with the spiritual directors of Ananda Worldwide, Nayaswami Jyotish and Devi!
When outward activity is calmed, our awareness expands and we are able to listen to our inner guidance. Meditation, prayer and reflection are the central focus of a spiritual life. This is a life that needs to be constantly fed and grows within you even after you head back to the city. In this retreat, spend time with our Spiritual Directors who will share how taking the time for spiritual focus and activities in your daily life will help you deepen your new-found inner life.
However, this spiritual journey is not possible without the help of a true guru (self realized master). Learn the basic teachings of meditation and yoga as taught by Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda.
“When you are moving blindly through the valley of life, stumbling in darkness, you need the help of someone who has eyes. You need a guru. To follow one who is enlightened is the only way out of the great muddle that has been created in the world. I never found true happiness and freedom until I met my Guru, he who was spiritually interested in me and who had the wisdom to guide me.” – Paramhansa Yogananda

- Interact with the spiritual directors of Ananda Worldwide who have spent many years on the spiritual path

The guru-disciple relationship is the highest expression of friendship, for it is based on unconditional divine love and wisdom. It is the loftiest and most sacred of all relationships. The Gita describes the guru as “dispeller of darkness” (from gu, “darkness” and ru, “that which dispels”). A true, God-illumined guru is one who, in his attainment of self-mastery, has realized his identity with the omnipresent Spirit. Such a one is uniquely qualified to lead the seeker on his or her inward journey toward perfection.
About Nayaswami Jyotish and Devi:

Nayaswamis Jyotish and Devi have served together as spiritual directors of Ananda Sangha Worldwide since 1984. With the passing of Swami Kriyananda, the founder of Ananda, in 2013, Jyotish and Devi are continuing to carry on the great work that he started. Nayaswami Jyotish was named by Kriyananda as his spiritual successor after decades of helping him build Ananda’s work around the world. He has lectured throughout the world and has helped establish Ananda’s work in America, Italy and India. He has also written several books. Nayaswami Devi first met Swami Kriyananda in 1969 and dedicated her life to the spiritual path. She and Jyotish were married in 1975, and have spent their life together serving Kriyananda and their guru, Paramhansa Yogananda, through teaching, writing and outreach throughout the world.
