Eternal Truth, and How to Find It

A retreat with Nayaswamis Jyotish & Devi, and others 13-15 November 2015

Scientific discoveries of the past century have clarified our understanding of the origin and nature of the universe, from the vast reaches of intergalactic space down to the minute regions of subatomic particles. These discoveries have led to computers, mobile phones, the internet, and other technologies which continue to transform our everyday lives. Yet answers to the ultimate questions remain elusive: “What is the meaning of life? Is lasting happiness possible? If so, how can it be found?”

At the same time, the narrow dogmas of traditional religions seem out of place with the modern scientific methods. Paramhansa Yogananda commented: “The age of commandments has ended. This is the age of logic.” Is this a new age? Clearly life as we know it has changed radically in the last 100 years, and continues to change. What is going on in the world, and how can we find meaning in our lives in the context of all these changes?

In this course Nayaswamis Jyotish & Devi will share from the teachings of Yogananda, clarifying what’s happening worldwide at this time in history, and addressing the following questions and others:
• Is there a conflict between science and religion?
• Is a scientific approach to religion possible, without dogmas?

• Where and how can lasting happiness be found?
• Does God exist? If so, how should we relate to Him?
• Why did God create this universe?
• Is this a new age? If so, is there any clear evidence of this?
• What is the right way of spiritually seeking in this new age?
• What is the right role of religious organizations, if any, in this new age?

This weekend will start Friday evening, with a special question & answer session with Jyotish and Devi after dinner (about 8pm-8:30). There will be two classes on Saturday, one from 10:30 to 12:30, and the other from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. There will be a third class on Sunday with a panel of other teachers.

About Nayaswamis Jyotish & Devi:

With the passing of Swami Kriyananda in 2013, Nayaswami Jyotish was named by Kriyananda as his spiritual successor. Jyotishji met Swami Kriyananda in 1966, working closely with him and his wife, Devi (who came to Ananda in 1969), to build Ananda’s work around the world. Both Nayaswamis Jyotish and Devi were named kriyacharyas by Swami Kriyananda, and can now disseminate the liberating and ancient Kriya Yoga technique of Paramhansa Yogananda’s lineage.
